Students are given an opportunity for leadership and responsibility in Student Council.  At the end of each year, elections are held and students are voted in by their peers for approximately 25 positions.  Beginning in fourth grade, a student may choose to campaign for a position on Student Council provided they meet the academic and conduct requirements.

Two teachers act as the advisors to Student Council and the group meets once a week during lunch.  Student Council is responsible for the following:

    • Lead the Morning Prayer, pledge of allegiance and daily announcements over the Intercom to all classrooms.
    • Collect canned food from students who participate in a monthly “free dress” day.  The cans are donated to the parish pantry for the missions and the poor of our church.
    • Run the Student of the Month assembly.  Student Council members announce each of the speakers during assembly.
    • Organize and work at the school-wide events for Halloween, Santa Photo Day and Earth Day.
    • Organize raffles and fund-raisers.
